RIO DE JANEIRO, August 31. /TASS/. The former Brazilian President, Dilma Rousseff, who was dismissed from the post through impeachment, quoted the 20th century Russian revolutionary poet Vladimir Mayakovsky as she addressed her supporters at a rally.
"I’d like to round up my address by quoting a fine poem by the Russian poet Mayakovsky," she said. "There’s no cause for joy - and no cause for grief, For the waters of history are roiling."
Rousseff took this line from Mayakovsky’s poem "And so what?" translated into Portuguese.
Temer swears in as Brazil’s head of state
Michel Temer, the vice-president in the administration of Brazil’s ousted President Dilma Rousseff, was sworn in as the country’s head of state at the session hall of Brazilian Federal Senate (parliament’s upper house) on Wednersday.
"I swear to defend the unity, integrity and independence of Brazil. I declare Michel Temer to be the new president of the Federative Republic of Brazil for a period as of August 31, 2016 to December 31, 2018," Renan Calheiros, the current president of Brazil’s Federal Senate, said.
After that, Temer was surrounded by his supporters many of whom wanted to pose for pictures with the new president.
On Wednesday, Brazilian senators supported the initiative on impeaching Rousseff, as 61 of them voted for it and another 20 voted against it.
